STYLISH PARTYGIRL
Cherry B Flavoured Stylist
Chiselled cheekbones, bona fide blue stockings & Ab-Fab 24/7.
Please don't not smoke in the smoking area.
Ella frequently styles for Love, Notion, Dazed, Wonderland, Eliza Doolittle & Azeema.
Ella, first up... What are your party essentials?
A couple bottles of Cherry B.
Who would you most like to collaborate with next, and how?
Pamela Anderson. She gets it. Steeped in such an iconic reputation and back story yet still chooses to work on interesting and independent projects. I would love to work on an obscure project with and starring Pammy.
Where is your local hangout?
There’s loads of bars and clubs around mine. But I don’t have a ‘local’ as of such, my roots and memories are right across London. If you only stick to “your area” you're missing out. The tube is a blessing be grateful.
If you could dress anyone who would it be & where would it be? Give us all the frills.
In a dream world and perhaps in the future (trying hard to manifest it) I want to be styling OutKast and their troop of dancers as they reunite with an even better album and tour the world. Andrew 3000’s style has been pushing the boundaries of black masculinity for years. Their music is so theatrical and steeped in sexy connotations, I love all that.
Top party tip?
NEVER talk about how you “need to stop smoking ” in the smoking area. So boring.
Who would you most like to snog your eyeballs?
Aleksei Berkov, you down?
What's your ideal hangover cure?
Not having work in the morning. A rare occasion.
Favourite decade of fashion?
I think the 1920s was the most beautiful era of fashion. But what I love to wear and what inspires my work is without a doubt the 80’s which may just be the least beautiful era.
Who is your style icon & favourite emerging designer?
Patsy Stone from Absolutely Fabulous is my style icon and life coach. I grew up watching video tapes of the show religiously, but never really knew what it was all about. As I grow older it’s undeniable I’ve unconsciously based my career and look on Patsy.
Supporting young designers is a big priority for me. I see so much talent coming from young designers. I’m really into ASAI, Charlotte Knowles and Priscavera. And a designer that’s just graduated Hinako Nakazawa is so great.
What's up next for you in 2018?
I’ll be continuing with this work pace. But also trying to make partying part of that. I’ve recently started playing in a DJ duo with Diana Maclean, the ‘Nae So Wee Bonnie Lassies’. We’re both mixed Scottish and start every set with playing bagpipes, before moving into obscure dance music, acid house and afro disco.
